We are diverse. We are mission driven.
We are family. We are committed to Christ.

Beginning this month, Martin UMC will include our financial statements in the newsletter as part of our ongoing commitment to greater transparency, communication, and shared stewardship. We believe that when the congregation has a clearer understanding of our financial life, we are better equipped to celebrate God’s provision, recognize our challenges, and participate faithfully in the ministry we share. These statements are not simply about numbers; they tell part of the story of how our collective generosity is being translated into worship, mission, discipleship, care, and ministry. Making this information available each month is one way we can strengthen trust and deepen our shared awareness of the church’s needs and opportunities.

Together, we are learning not only how to support the ministry of Martin UMC, but how to live more fully as generous stewards of all God has entrusted to us. Continue to pray, continue to give, and continue to remain engaged as we move forward into the future God has in store for us.

Volunteers needed for Shady Brook

We are the Adopt-A-School partner for Shady Brook Elementary and have a very special opportunity. They are in need of consistent volunteers (weekly) for tutoring in both reading and math. Supplies and activities will be provided by the teachers and no teaching experience is needed. But, Shady Brook needs us!

Their most immediate need is for small group reading tutors for 6th grade, Monday – Thursday from 12:30 – 1:00.

Getting these students up to grade level will have a huge impact on their junior high/middle school success.

In addition, there is a need for math tutoring in:

4th grade 9:00-9:30 and/or 12:55-1:30

5th grade 10:40 – 11:10

Are you the one to make a big difference?

Please contact Cathy Patrick, 832-725-9957 or ckpatrick2@yahoo.com if you are able to help. We will also try and have a pool of substitutes for those times you are unable to be on campus. Thank you for your consideration!

Trustees Need Your Help!

Join us Saturday, October 3, from 9:00 a.m.–2:00 p.m. for our Soul Food Fellowship and

Kitchen Cleaning Day!

If you can scrub, wipe, wash, organize, or purge, we have a job for you! After months of wonderful fellowship and events in this space, it’s time to give our kitchen a much-needed deep clean so it’s ready to serve for many more gatherings.

We’ll have a list of cleaning projects ready to go. When you arrive, simply choose a task, roll up your sleeves, and help us make a difference!

Whether you can stay for an hour or the whole day, your time and helping hands will be greatly appreciated. Many hands make light work—we hope to see you there!

NEW for 2026

•  This year we will have a “scavenger hunt” for the children. They will receive card at the Welcome table and then can find each station to get a sticker. Based on the number of stickers they get, they can get a prize from the prize table.

•  Also new this year are dirty sodas being sold by the children’s ministry. You can still buy a regular soda or water, but there will be a station with the “dirty drinks”. If you want to learn what that is, just visit their station and find out.

•  Our photo op area will be available to everyone to take their own selfies or we will have someone there that can take the picture for you on your phone. The decorations will be fall related and might look nice on a holiday card! Just sayin’.

Finally, due to popular demand, and while it’s not “new” we are bringing back the brisket sandwiches as our lunch offering on Saturday Oct 17th. Tickets will be available online soon.

FOURGIVEN is a four-part male quartet consisting of: Chad Thomason, Misi Latu, Stan Paschal and Rick Weaver. They will debut their group at the Lord’s Acre Concert on Friday night of that Weekend – October 16 at 6:30 p.m.!
