Important Appointment Announcement from SPRC Dear Martin church family, In our current sermon series, “Becoming Us,” Pastor Daniel has focused each week on a portion of our church’s mission statement. This week, we reflected on how we at Martin are a family. We love and support one another in happy times, in hard times, and in all the in-between times as well. We strive to love one another as Christ loves us. In that spirit, I share with you some news that challenges us as a family. As you know, in the United Methodist Church our ministers are itinerant, and each year Bishop Ruben Saenz, Jr. and his cabinet prayerfully consider the needs of each congregation in the Horizon Texas Conference. This year, their discernment is that God is calling our beloved Pastor Daniel to Trietsch Memorial UMC in Flower Mound, effective July 1. This was hard news for your Staff-Parish Relations Committee to hear, and we know that it is hard for you, too. We have been so blessed to have Pastor Daniel leading us these past four years. His pastoral gifts helped us move past all the difficulties of the pandemic; he guided us through the changes in the United Methodist Church; he helped us envision and bring about a new Beacon House, Tongan Community Center, and Mosaic worship service; he shepherded us through the discernment process last year with First United Methodist Church of Bedford — always with utmost grace and generosity of spirit — and so much more. We are grateful for his leadership. We are also tremendously grateful for his sweet family — April, Abby, Chloe, and Harper, as well as Daniel’s late mom, his dad, and his brother, Ben — and all the ways they have blessed our Martin family, as well. The SPRC is already working with our district superintendent, Rev. Danny Tenney, as he, Bishop Saenz, and the Bishop’s cabinet discern who our next pastor will be. Please keep them, Martin, Pastor Daniel and his family, and our next pastor in your prayers in the days and weeks ahead. We’ll go forward together as a church family, wishing Daniel and his family all the best and welcoming our next pastor with open hearts and open arms. Sincerely, Mary Gladstone Chair, Staff-Parish Relations Committee |
